Steve McClean
Managing Director
Steve is Managing Director of SMC Ltd, which he started so that he could bring his philosophy of a ‘Reasonable’, yet dynamic approach directly to client businesses. A Chartered Member of IOSH, he has nearly 20 years experience in health and safety. With a proven track record in providing accredited IOSH & NEBOSH courses, in addition to delivering a range of consultancy services, he has considerable experience in a wide variety of industry sectors. He is a self-professed Adrenaline junkie, which some think is contradiction in terms considering his profession.
Michelle McClean
Finance Director
Michelle is the Finance Director and has over 20 years experience working in Finance Management, mostly gained in local government. She ‘balances the books’ and ensures that all our work is costed correctly so that we can continue to provide outstanding quality and value for service and to all our clients. She is an avid ‘Rounders’ Captain and plays in the Bolton league, when she’s not shopping !
Clare McCluskey
Health and Safety Consultant
Clare is a Health and Safety Consultant and joined in April 2009. She is TechIOSH, and has just completed the NEBOSH Diploma. She provides accredited IOSH and NEBOSH courses, in addition, to delivering a range of consultancy services. She has experience in a wide variety of industry sectors including, Cranes, Telecommunications and Electrical Engineering and Heating. She enjoys films, especially the Twilight films and tries to apply her own ‘special’ powers to her work, which is reflected in her enthusiam.
Brian Marcon
Health and Safety Consultant / Trainer
With experince in the Construction and Mining sectors, Brian is a Health and Safety Consultant/ Trainer who has experience in conducting OHSAS 18001 audits and elivering quality training in all areas of Health and Safety since 1996. He has added experience of international work in delivering NEBOSH courses in the Middle East.
Brian Magennis
Health and Safety Consultant / Trainer
Brian is a NEBOSH examiner and has been delivering NEBOSH and IOSH courses extensively since 2005. Experienced in the Public and Construction sectors he has vast experience of developing and assisting in risk assessments, safety policies, method statements and construction plans.
Keith Walters
Health and Safety Consultant / Trainer
With an extensive manufacturing background, Keith has been delivering a range of Health and Safety training to a wide range of audiences, for more than 20 years. A former NEBOSH examiner, Keith prides himself on delivering both interesting and informative courses.
Dave Shaw
Risk Management Consultant
Dave is a Risk Management Consultant and a Fellow of IOSH. Having worked as a Health and Safety Manager for a Local Authority before joining a leading Risk Management Insurer providing consultancy and training services to both Public and Private sector clients. He has extensive experience in providing health and safety courses including the range of accredited IOSH courses.
John Bird
First Aid Trainer
John is a fully qualified and experienced First Aid trainer having worked as a trainer for St. John Ambulance before becoming General Manager of the Lancashire St.John Ambulance Headquaters. He trains on First Aid and Fire Marshall courses and also holds the NEBOSH National General Certificate.
Simon Cable
Fire Safety and Business Continuity Consultant
Simon is a Fire Safety and Business Continuity Consultant. Having served over 30 years in the Fire and Rescue service, he now provides consultancy services and lectures on a a wide range of issues including technical fire safety, project planning, business continuity planning, emergency planning and fire investigation.
