NEBOSH International General Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health

Who Should Attend?

The NEBOSH International General Certificate is aimed at those who have health and safety responsibilities (eg. managers, supervisors, employees and employee representatives) based outside the UK who require a broad knowledge and understanding of health & safety principles and practices. The NEBOSH International certificate is a globally recognised qualification in the health and safety profession and focuses on international standards and management systems.

Course Overview

The course provides a solid foundation in health and safety, covering 16 modules comprising

Unit 1 – Management of Health & Safety
  • Element 1 – Foundations in Health & Safety
  • Element 2 – Health & Safety Policy
  • Element 3 – Organising for Health & Safety
  • Element 4 – Promoting a Positive Health & Safety Culture
  • Element 5 – Risk Assessment
  • Element 6 – Principles of Control
  • Element 7 – Monitoring, Review and Audit
  • Element 8 – Accident Investigation, Recording and Reporting

 

Unit 2 – Controlling Workplace Hazards
  • Element 1 – Movement of People & Vehicles
  • Element 2 – Manual and Mechanical Handling
  • Element 3 – Work Equipment
  • Element 4 – Electricity
  • Element 5 – Fire
  • Element 6 – Chemical and Biological Hazards
  • Element 7 – Physical and Psychological Health Hazards
  • Element 8 – Construction Activities


The International Certificate is non-country specific in relation to the legal section, and covers International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions. However, in-house courses could be tailored to a specific country requirements.

Certification

There are examinations comprising two written theory papers (Papers IGC1 and IGC2) each lasting 2 hours to be completed on the examination day, and a practical assessment (IGC3). The practical assessment involves undertaking a safety inspection of a workplace and preparing a management report.

11 days inclusive of examination day
