The Health and Safety Awareness (HSA) Course highlights potential hazards when working on a construction site and provides practical advice on keeping employees and your colleagues safe. It covers employees individual and employer’s responsibilities, including what employees can do if you think anyone’s health and safety is being put at risk.
This one day course is intended for those who those who are about to work, or have just begun to work in the Construction industry – to understand the potential hazards they face on site.
The HSA course is one of those listed as required to obtain the CSCS ‘Labourers’ Green Card
At the end of the course you will have an understanding of:
- the need to prevent accidents
- health and safety law
- how your role fits into the control and management of the site
- risk assessments and method statements
- performing safely and asking for advice
- how to report unsafe acts to prevent an accident
The method of assessment will be by multiple-choice questions at the end of the course as well as being expected to be interactive during the course. Successful candidates will be awarded the CITB Construction Site Operatives Safety Certificate.
This certificate expires every five years. After this period certificate holders are required to sit a further course to renew their qualification for a further five years.
